Following the notification below, we plan to carry out our first odour

control unit shutdown on Monday 24 August 2009.  The odour control unit

will be off for more than 12 hours and any additional odour should be

minimal as the gasses will be kept within the odour controlled coverings

across the site.

On Saturday 7th February we will be carrying out urgent maintenance works

on the raw sludge transfer pumps &amp; holding tanks,

near the southern boundary, on the West Side of Mogden sewage treatment

works. This essential work will involve pumping out the contents of the

tanks and there may be an increase in odour while the work is carried

out.



The work will take place during the day (between the hours of 8am to 4pm)

for 2 days,

On Thursday we plan to drain down one of the rectangular primary settlement

tanks on the west side of the works. This is so we can carry out some

essential maintenance work on the scraper system.



The drain down is expected to take no more than 48 hours.

Today we will be draining wash sump, near the pasteurisation unit on the

west side of the works. This is to carry out some maintenance work on one

of the pipes.



The work is planned to last for half the day, and we do not anticipate this

We would like to apologise for any increase in odour that may have been

experienced as a result of the recent maintenance work on Primary

Settlement Tank number 14 (east side of the site).



We have been experiencing some problems with the scraper mechanism that

removes the settled sludge from the bottom of the tank. We are working

hard to resolve this issue as soon as we can.



Tomorrow, we plan to drain down the tank ahead of further maintenance work.

Development Department have been running a trial on one of the Odour

Control Units in the South West area of Mogden Sewage Treatment Works.

This trial involved the testing of an alternative odour treatment process.
