Hounslow Council has threatened to take control of MPs Alan and Ann Keen's Brentford house if they continue to leave it empty.

The council's empty property department wrote to the couple on Monday after one of their officers read in last week's Chronicle that the house had fallen into disrepair.

They now have 28 days to respond to let the council know how and when they plan to bring it back into use. If they fail to comply, the local authority could take ownership of the property and ...

A man has been taken to hospital stuck to a public toilet after a prankster covered the seat with glue. The stainless steel lavatory was removed from a cubicle in Brierley Hill, near Dudley, with the man still attached, after the best efforts of emergency services failed to free him, said West Midlands Ambulance Service.

An ambulance service spokesman explained: "The man was using the facilities when he became stuck on the seat. It appears as though someone had left glue on it.

A 62-year-old woman has finally passed her driving test - 27 years after her first lesson.

Teresa Clarke, of Wroxham, Norfolk, went through 20 driving instructors, spent £15,000 in fees and had 450 hours of tuition.

She also failed 12 tests, cancelled a further 35 and had 50 mock exams.

Now, following her latest effort to ditch her L-plates, on June 26, she is free to get behind the wheel of a car.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else is hoping to rent an allotment in the Isleworth area? I've made several enquiries and the waiting list is 5 years apparently. If I can get together 6 or more people in the area however, it is possible to make a case to put foward to the council. It is a legal requirement (The 1908 allotments act) that they provide allotments where there is demand. I think a 5 year waiting list demonstrates a significant demand. Anyone who may be interested, please PM ...

£230 spend on St George's Day

AFP - Wednesday, June 11 08:38 amLONDON (AFP) - A minister has admitted that the government spent a mere 230 pounds promoting St George's Day over the last five years.

Culture Minister Margaret Hodge confessed that her department spent 116 pounds on promoting England's national day this year, two pounds more than in 2007 -- and absolutely nothing in the previous three years.

The admission provoked outrage from at least one patriotic member of parliament.

Thanks to traffic wardens, hundreds of lives were saved recently as this extract from The Times Newspaper shows.

Despite being so close to the Haymarket drama, the second Mercedes was not spotted by the police. Traffic wardens noticed it was parked illegally, however, and one hour later a tow truck took it to the NCP headquarters in Park Lane, where it arrived at 3.14am.
