PostSubject: Hounslow Homes - Repairs   Tue Apr 29, 2008 1:44 am

Is it me or is Hounslow Homes Repairs Service Getting worse.
In a recent case, water leaking from a 4th floor flat into the bathroom electrics of a 3rd floor Leasholder flat took 3 months to cure. 8 visits from plumbers and Technical Inspectors it was not til water reached the 2nd and first floor flats (Hounslow Homes properties) it was taken seriously. The Leaseholder who has 3 young children is still unable to use the bathroom as it still as no lighting. The 82 year old lady whose flat on the 4th floor where the leak was caused by a central heating pipe underground was so depressed by the all the visits from plumbers and the downstair leaseholders, it made her ill. After over 30 years in the flat, she now is concidering getting off the estate.
In another case Clayponds residents has had no cold water in the bathroom since they moved into the flat last December until last week. This also meant they was unable to use the shower there and had to go to relations in brentford to have a bath.
Also communial repairs seem to be a waste of time reporting.
Appointments made are not kept in many cases without warning.
IS IT NOT TIME HOUNSLOW HOMES GOT THEIR ACT TOGETHER.

I couldn't agree more! That's a shocking story.
We've had problems too. The door lock to the communal area of our mainsonette block has been broken for 2 days now and no-one can get in. It's where we put the litter and where everyone stores their bikes. Big bags are now piling up in the entrance foyer as no-one can get in to dispose of it so the whole place stinks. Also, we can't get our bikes to get to work so for two days now, everyone in my flat and several others I've spoken to in the block have had to fork out extra cash to get the bus and train to work instead of cycling. We've reported this three times now and still nothing has been done and we have no idea when anything will be done. Apparently it's not a priority as it's a communal area. So tell me, how are we meant to get to work and where are we meant to put our rubbish? Are Hounslow Homes going to reimburse us for the money we're all spending on trains and buses? I think not! If this were a private landlord it'd be criminal. And we pay good money for "maintenance" or rather a lack of it. Needless to say, I'll be dropping into their surgery for a few words as soon as I can but having a full-time job this is rather difficult also!

Door broken since Sunday night and it's Thursday now. Still nothing. Haven't even got a work reference number like they're supposed to give us. Judging from my conversation with others in the block it must have been reported about 8 or 9 times now. Someone has now broken the door down or crowbarred it open or something so at least we can dispose of rubbish etc but the door frame is splintered and coming off the wall! I can imagine it staying like that for months now. And we pay money for this non-service.

Hi JB
I understand that an operative checked out the site on wednesday to see what work & material needed doing to rectify.
I shall check again on monday to see when the actual work is to be started and report my findings.

Still nothing! Also called to report a broken light in the stairwell today and was told I can't report it as I rent my room from a landlord who owns his own flat in the block. This is news to me! Why on earth can't I report a broken light? I still live there and who else is going to fix it? It IS in a communal area that I use several times a day. Curiouser and curiouser...

Hi JB
I have emailed repairs to find out what the hold up on the shed area main door is. As soon as i recieve a reply i will let you know. With regard to you not being able to report faulty lights, i agree this is rediculus. Your landlord pays service charges for the communial area lighting as does hounslow homes residents. I will bring this to the attention of our ward councillors as well as Hounslow Homes Estate management. I shall also report this as a repair. In the meantime should you have any problems requiring repairs to communial areas in your block, i suggest you report them directly to myself and i will report them direct on behalf of the URA. and of course yourself.
